Linkedin by Bernie [email protected] up for the weekly Limerick Post newsletter Sign Up TRAVEL disruption is on the horizon with the cabin crew branch of IMPACT trade union having served notice of industrial action on Aer Lingus.Workers will stage a 24-hour work stoppage on Friday, May 30 , starting at a minute after midnight. Cabin crew members will place pickets at Shannon, Cork and Dublin Shannon airports for the duration of the stoppage.IMPACT official Michael Landers said that cabin crew were ready to take immediate action because the company had failed to engage on the rostering issue for so long. “Cabin crew have sought to engage with the company on this issue on several occasions over several years but the company has simply refused to consider anything other than the erratic rostering patterns that have become the norm at the airline. It has resulted in an exhausted crew who feel now that the only option left to them is the option of last resort, which is a work stoppage. It’s regrettable that it has come to this, but the current arrangements are unsustainable.”Mr Landers said that the cabin crew branch is confident that alternative rosters could be implemented with no loss of productivity or at any extra cost to the airline.Currently, cabin crew can work up to 60 hours in a seven day period, resulting in shift patterns of six working days and one rest day, followed by six more working days.Mr Landers explained that cabin crew have sought a roster similar to those for pilots at the airline, of five work days followed by three rest days. “We are all a work in progress, and we walk for those who aren’t here anymore,” said Stento-Debrino. The walk raised $366,000 before they’ve even counted what was raised on Sunday. Karla Stento-Debrino has walked previously and is a three-year stroke survivor. Stento-Debrino said the biggest message from today’s walk is, “you just have to keep positive because you are not alone.” BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – On Sunday, for the first time, the Southern Tier Heart Walk was held virtually. “I had to learn how to walk and talk and pretty much learn how to do everything all over again, and I have learned how to do that. But I am still a work in progress.” “It was fun but a little different,” said participant, Karla Stento-Debrino. Stento-Debrino said she wasn’t going to let the coronavirus stop her from helping a cause that has impacted her everyday life. Amy Skiba, is the director of the Southern Tier Heart Walk and she said the event went as well as they could have hoped. “We had almost 900 people respond to the Facebook event page, so we were super happy with the turnout,” said Skiba. “It’s very rare you find someone who hasn’t been affected by this, so I think that is why we have such wonderful support.” A pandemic or a little rain couldn’t prevent Stento-Debrino and all the other participants from supporting a good cause. “Like” Jacob Seus on Facebook and “Follow” him on Twitter.

The Swiss fell offside with Dortmund fans last season when he conceded the 2018⁄19 title race was “over” after a 4-2 home defeat by Schalke left them three points behind Bayern with three games left. FacebookTwitterWhatsAppEmail分享 Swiss coach Lucien Favre has hinted that he may leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season after defeat by Bayern Munich left his team seven points adrift of the champions in the Bundesliga title race with six games left. Dortmund’s Swiss coach Lucien Favre has hinted that he may leave at the end of the season, with his side currently trailing Bayern Munich by seven points in the title race. For the second season running under Favre, second-placed Dortmund find themselves wanting at the tail end of the campaign with Bayern now firmly on course for an eighth straight league title. The Swiss gave a resigned grin when asked if Tuesday’s 1-0 home loss to Bayern behind closed doors, settled by Joshua Kimmich’s deft chip, proved Favre does not have what it takes for Dortmund to break Bayern’s monopoly on the German league. “That’s been said here for months,” said Favre, 62, who has a year left on his Dortmund contract. “I know how these things go and I will talk about it in a few weeks. “I’m staying calm and I trust in myself.” The home defeat in Dortmund came on the back of a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Bayern last November at Munich’s Allianz Arena. According to German daily Bild on Wednesday, Dortmund’s bosses made contact “in the past few months” with Niko Kovac, who was sacked by Bayern in November, as a possible successor to Favre. After Favre said he will make a future announcement, Germany legend and Sky pundit Lothar Matthaeus commented “as soon as I heard that, I thought ‘Favre will leave and Kovac will come’”. Bild also claim that RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann is Dortmund’s ideal candidate, but the 32-year-old is under contract until 2023. Favre has all but waved the white flag on bridging the gap in the table, even though Bayern must still face Borussia Moenchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen, who have already both beaten them this season. Share Jason Ader – No Boogeyman… Activism will play a vital part in reshaping gambling August 20, 2020 Business news sources have reported that around £1 billion has been wiped off the value of UK-listed spread betting operators, following the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) industry clampdown on ‘contract for difference’ (CFDs).Yesterday the regulatory body proposed a number of new measures aiming to protect inexperienced consumers and improve overall industry standards. The measures include the introduction of risk warnings, setting lower leverage limits for new retail clients, capping leverage maximum levels and the outright ban of bonuses or incentives for CFD accounts. The FCA stated that its measures had been implemented following research that found that 82% of clients lost money on CFD products. The new measures include:Introducing standardised risk warnings and mandatory disclosure of profit-loss ratios on client accounts by all providers to better illustrate the risks and historical performance of these products.Setting lower leverage limits for inexperienced retail clients who do not have 12 months or more experience of active trading in CFDs, with a maximum of 25:1.Capping leverage at a maximum level of 50:1 for all retail clients and introducing lower leverage caps across different assets according to their risks. Some levels of leverage currently offered to retail customers exceed 200:1.Preventing providers from using any form of trading or account opening bonuses or benefits to promote CFD products.“We have serious concerns that an increasing number of retail clients are trading in CFD products without an adequate understanding of the risks involved, and as a result can incur rapid, large and unexpected losses,” detailed Christopher Woolard, Executive Director of FCA Strategy & Competition.“We are introducing stricter rules for CFD products to ensure the sector addresses the shortcomings identified, and that firms make sure that retail clients are aware of the high risks involved in trading these complex products.”The controversial CFDs are derivative products which allow investors to trade on price fluctuations without owning any underlying shares, which would be subject to stamp duty.Through brokerages, traders can deposit money as collateral and open accounts trading significantly larger sums (sometimes 200X deposit amount). The FCA’s clampdown sent shares in UK-listed spread betting operators tumbling, with IG Group the industry’s biggest trading platform recording a 32% decline (788-530p) wiping circa £900 million off its value.Further declines saw CMC Markets drop by 30% to 125p representing a loss of around £160 million, and London AIM Plus500 record a decline of 28% to 388p losing approximately £150 million in value.Yesterday’s decline would have a mild knock-on effect on leading industry technology provider Playtech, which saw its share price drop 2-3%, as the company has invested in financial trading products with a view of diversifying its product range.
